Every old dog deserves a place to come home to
Someday I want to open a pet hotel or a rescue just for older dogs: the gray-faced sweethearts who wait in shelters while everyone walks past them to the puppies. A place where nobody rushes them, nobody gives up on them, and every one of them knows they're loved. Every walk brings me a little closer.
It started with Lucy
Lucy was twelve years old when she came home with me for good. Her first mom had just passed away, and her whole world had turned upside down. Plenty of people would have looked at a scruffy twelve-year-old terrier and decided her best days were behind her.
Lucy had other plans. She gave me five and a half more years of stubborn sniffing expeditions, happy jumps and squirrel chases. She leaned on me through the hard times, and I leaned on her. Some of the best years of my life were the last years of hers.
Lucy was lucky. She had someone who had promised to love her. So many older dogs don't. They lose their person, or their family can't keep them anymore, and they end up waiting in a kennel, confused and lonely, watching the younger dogs go home first.
The dream
I want to build a place for those dogs. Maybe it starts as a pet hotel, maybe as a rescue, but either way it will feel like a real home, not a kennel: a couch to curl up on, a sunny spot to nap in, walks that go at their pace, and someone to scratch that perfect spot behind their ears every single day.
Some of them will find families of their own, and watching them go home will be the best kind of goodbye. Some of them will stay with me, and they'll spend the rest of their days safe, warm, unhurried and loved. No dog should have to spend their last chapter alone.
I'm not there yet. But every walk, every drop-in and every overnight I do for your pets is a step toward it. When you trust me with your dog, you're helping build a home for a dog who doesn't have one yet. That means more to me than I can say.
What I'm dreaming of
Everything Lucy taught me, for the dogs who are still waiting for their person.
A home, not a kennel
Couches, blankets and sunny spots to nap in, so every dog feels safe from the moment they walk through the door.
Walks at their pace
No rushing. Slow walks, long sniffs and as many stops as tired old legs need, just the way Lucy liked it.
Loved to the very end
Whether they find a new family or stay with me, no old dog will ever have to wonder if they're loved.
For Lucy, who taught me that old dogs have the biggest hearts. And for every gray muzzle still waiting to come home.
Every walk brings them closer to home
When you book with me, you're helping build a safe place for the dogs who need it most.
