Lucy, who stopped to smell everything
Lucy lived to seventeen and a half. She was a stubborn, curious, scruffy little terrier mix (our best guess!) who could jump several feet straight up when she was happy to see you. She's the reason this business has her name.
A promise kept
My pet-sitting journey started in Salt Lake City, and so did my journey with Lucy. I walked and pet sat Lucy for her first mom, and over all those walks and sniffs, the two of us grew close.
Lucy's mom and I had an agreement: if anything ever happened to her, I would take care of Lucy. When she passed away from COVID, I kept that promise. Lucy was twelve years old when she came home with me for good.
Most people don't expect a twelve-year-old dog to have many adventures left. Lucy didn't care what people expected. She lived another five and a half years and came along for every step, from Utah all the way to Virginia, after a life that had already taken her through California.
Stubborn, curious, and completely herself
Lucy was not in a hurry. On walks she would stop every few steps, dig her feet in, and refuse to move until she had smelled everything: every blade of grass, every fence post, every leaf. You didn't walk Lucy; you went on a sniffing expedition with her.
She was also a jumper. Even as a senior, she could leap several feet into the air, and she saved her biggest jumps for her favorite people (usually me and my husband) or for anyone holding food or treats.
And she never lost her spark. Lucy loved to chase cats and squirrels. No squirrel in any of the states she lived in was ever truly safe.
We took care of each other
People think of it as me taking care of Lucy, but she took care of me just as much. Through hard times and happy ones, she was right there. Lucy helped me become the strong person I am today.
She passed away in July 2026 at seventeen and a half, after a long, full, well-sniffed life.
She still shapes every visit
Walks for Lucy is named for her because the way I care for your pets comes straight from the years I spent with her.
A walk is for sniffing
Lucy taught me patience. Your dog's walk is about them, so there's always time to stop and smell things.
Senior dogs have so much left
Lucy came to me at twelve and lived to seventeen and a half. I know how to care for older dogs, and how much joy they still have to give.
A promise is a promise
When you trust me with your pet and your home, I take it as seriously as the promise I made for Lucy.
That scruffy little face
Run free, sweet girl. Every walk is still for you.
Let me meet your pets
Every one of them gets the same love and patience Lucy did.
